As Stage 1 of the aged care reforms commenced last week on July 1, CHSP providers are navigating new reporting requirements through the Data Exchange (DEX). Many have expressed hesitancy and concern, particularly around compliance barriers such as the need for clients to have a My Aged Care ID, making referrals for existing clients more difficult.
Through our CHSP Forum Network, we’ve heard loud and clear: DEX remains a significant challenge, and many questions are left unanswered.
This incoming government brief, released late June, confirms what many providers already know: the ICT system underpinning aged care reform is still under development. Independent assurance from the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) rates delivery confidence as medium-low, citing ongoing risks. While not unexpected for a reform of this scale, it reinforces the need for robust support and clear communication, much of which we are still waiting for.
ISV is calling on government decision-makers to listen to these concerns, and prioritise and invest in the digital infrastructure central to reform.
As we enter the new financial year and create work plans for the next 12-months, it’s time to rethink how we support providers through reform. At our next CHSP Forum, we’ll focus on practical strategies to help services prepare and implement DEX changes. If you have insights or feedback to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to hear from you.
