For over half a century, Inner Sydney Voice has promoted social justice and inclusion with and for people who experience social and economic disadvantage.
As one of the first regional social development agencies to be funded in NSW, we continue to support people, their communities and organisations across the Sydney region with a focus on the local government areas of the City of Sydney, Bayside, Randwick, Waverley, Woollahra, and the Inner West.
The Board of Inner Sydney Voice is seeking individuals who can help us set the local social development agenda, advise on public policy and draw on the professional and lived experience of our community.
This voluntary role is about informing Inner Sydney Voice’s advocacy campaigns and supporting deep engagement with local people about the issues that matter to them.
Are you;
• a local with lived experience of the health, housing or social services sector; or
• a service provider with knowledge of community needs across our region in particular housing stress, disability, mental health, aged care, youth equity, digital inclusion; or
• an academic or policy expert?
Role of Panel Members
The primary purpose of the Inner Sydney Voice Public Policy and Advocacy Advisory Panel is to guide our work and advise the Board on key public policy matters and advocacy initiatives.
Specifically, the Panel’s role is to:
• provide expert knowledge, advice and information to the ISV Board to assist its informed decision-making;
• comment on documents provided by the Board;
• serve as a resource to the Board and committees on interpretations of public policy and advocacy matters;
• initiate and/or coordinate specific projects as requested by the Board such as research, development of submissions or advocacy campaigns
• recommend representatives or spokespersons to represent ISV at key forums such as local government meetings
• foster the development of knowledge, collaborations, and networks within ISV
• develop content for ISV Publications in line with advocacy strategies
Panel members are appointed for a period of up to 2 years and will meet up to 4 times per year.
