Hello Sector,
As February beds in, you can feel the momentum building across our region — more service delivery, deeper community connection, and plenty of planning underway.
The City of Sydney, together with Counterpoint, hosted another successful Summer on the Green in Waterloo. Locals and visitors came together to celebrate community in all its diversity. It was a powerful reminder that social cohesion is possible when we commit to shared values, build trust, nurture belonging, and act for the common good.
So many organisations were present — Done By Us Peer Community Educators, Link Wentworth and City West Community Housing, Redfern Legal Centre and many others — each contributing to the fabric of the day.
In Bondi, JNC partnered with the Bondi Medicare Mental Health Centre (commissioned by CESPHN and operated by New Horizons Enterprises Limited) to deliver a rapid response for people affected by the Bondi Beach shootings. The Centre will continue to operate beyond the immediate crisis, offering longer‑term mental health support for the whole community through soft‑entry pathways and warm referrals from local organisations.
Across in Marrickville, Inner West Council has entered a landmark partnership with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to bring the iconic Sissy Ball to its new home in February 2026 — an exciting celebration of local, national and international LGBTQI communities.
Our region is not perfect. We don’t always agree. But we share a commitment to equity and social justice, and we work together to ensure everyone belongs.
