Mums4Refugees and Welcome Merchant have joined forces to bring awareness to the challenges refugee and asylum seeker mothers face everyday in Australia, from poverty and isolation to complex bureaucracy and racism.
It’s also a celebration of the contributions to the community made by women seeking a better life in Australia. A celebration of new beginnings, hope and solidarity between women with the shared experience of motherhood.
There will be amazing raffle prizes and you’ll hear from guest speakers such as Member for Newtown, MP Jenny Leong, Councillor Jess Scully and Councillor Linda Scott. You’ll be feasting on delicious Syrian food from Welcome Merchant chefs Racha’s Syrian Kitchen and Venezuelan sweets from Margarita’s Cakes.
